Yeah. I <3 those 8-Bit sprites. I once tried to go through the archive, replacing all 16-bit sprites with 8-bit ones as a fan thing for you. I cannot sprite for my life, so it didn't work out. For that reason, I didn't post it.
PS Try to post "<3" on a DSi. The generic font they use makes it look kinda weird.
PPS Why did MC remove the 8-Bit sprites from his "sprites" section on his website?

I should probably put those 8-Bit sprites back. The 32-Bit ones, however, are horrible, and will never be used again. NEW COMIC! 425: Old Friends and New InsightsFinally we're getting somewhere. I also created a "First Time Here?" page, which you can check out if you like. The main advantage of having this page is that it explains the basic nature of the comic strip very precisely, without any of my usual teeth-gnashing, and allows me to eliminate the rant just after the intro comics, which was vaguely annoying me. Catch you later! ~MC

Nice. A useful (if only to newcomers) rant, as well as a shiny new comic with a non-Trog focus. And now, we can begin the wild guessing of who comic-MC is referring to.
Personally, the first female author that jumped to my mind is Snagger Outlaw / Sora. Usually she doesn't do cameos like this, but if I recall, you two are on good terms already. Besides, the only other major female author I can think of on Serebii is Neko.

Looks great, and new archive options too! hurray!
I also noticed that you space the panels of your conic now. Looks good.

I've finally returned, bringing you a comic of unusual size! 427: MC's HammerSorry for my long absence, but I hope this makes up for it. Lots of experimentation going on here, particularly in the panel structure (as you've noted previously.) Enjoy! ~MC

Nicely done, MC. Panel structure is always a bit awkward at first. (No idea how a lot of people pull it off with full pages) Can Trogdor recover from an arrow to the eye, or will he be forced to wear an amazingly cool eyepatch for this storyline?

The funny thing about full pages is that in some other ways they're easier, because you have room to breathe and room to do things and say things, without cramming a punchline or at least an endpoint after only four panels. So each structure has advantages and disadvantages. Happy New Year! 428: Head of the HammerYes, that's right. Another one. I think you're right-- I have indeed hit comic Nirvana, though I had a few more mental blocks to get past first. Enjoy. ~MC

For some reason, I can't see that particular comic. Is that just my own dang fault, or is anybody else having this problem?

Nah, I just fixed it. I thought I'd fixed it earlier, but something about the transparency process was screwing it up.
Fixed now, though.
~MC
EDIT: Maybe not. Give me a minute.
DOUBLE EDIT: Finally. Thank Bob. One thing I've learned from this experience is that if you use Photoshop for transparently spaced panels, it means that making any further tweaks to the image is asking for trouble.

Sorry I haven't been around recently (traveling), but cool comic once again. White space...it seems like quite a useful tool. I'm guessing Trogdor wouldn't really know how to use it though, should he re-gain access to it.

New comic! 429: The Daily ComicsI felt like I procrastinated a bit on this one; sorry. I blame the sun goddess Amatseru, personally. But, I did make something else. A remake, to be exact. Can anyone guess which comic I felt so disturbed by that I reached across the years to pluck it from the archives and replace it with something better-written? That's right, it's the Legolas comic. Let's face it, Gabby's character was horribly misused in that comic for the sake of a punchline, and the minute it went up on the site, you knew it, I knew it, and the only reason I didn't change it then was because I hadn't learned the difference yet between good jokes, which develop humor through character, and bad jokes, which develop humor against character. Looking back on that part of the LotR storyline, it becomes obvious that the jokes during the Minas Tirith sequence were particularly lame. Fortunately, I can say that those are the last truly bad jokes in Reporterz. Over the course of One Core to Rule Them All, I learned a LOT. (This may have something to do with the fact it took three years to complete.) Around the point where Sila and Sauron first meet, I really started reevaluating my plans instead of following them blindly. At this point, if I were looking at the plan for the start of the storyline, I'd be like, "Really? A random airplane? Where did they get it from, how did they know when and where to find the gang, etc..." But I can let that slide because it's not really a big deal compared to the things I did in Storyline One. Interesting, looking back on what I've learned. It makes me really enthused about where we're going next. Anyway, the new version: 298: LegolasThis is a lot closer to what I actually intended to do with that comic without venturing into hyperbole. Honestly, that whole series of strips could use some punchline tweaks, but this was the only one with a severely detrimental effect on character. That sucker's been screaming to be fixed since the day I made it. ~MC PS: Jeshi's back! Yay!

Hmmm...so that's how the comics are made. Interesting.
Also, I like the new Legolas comic, but could you be kind enough to include the old version of it with it, like you did with the old comics? Just to remember.

*sweatdrop* But I don't want anyone to remember! Any comic that contains the lines "Sign me! Sign my anatomy!" deserves to be wiped off the face of the earth.

So here's what I've been up to lately:
I recently finished a new comic. It'll be up before long, I just need my computer resources. It's just a quickie, but the next one after that should be fairly interesting.
I then went on a massive spriting spree, getting around to many of the sprite reworkings I'd been meaning to do. The result: Eliza, Sila, and Illie are all going to have new sprites when next you see them. Yay! I also did a great deal of experimentation, and I think I can definitely say that I have a much better grasp of my own style than I did when I started. Now I can pretty much sprite any kind of humanoid I like. Yay!
As I noted in my post on the Megas, the power of robot rock inspired me to rethink a lot of things. Specifically, a song about Dr. Wily got me rethinking OotA Wily, which got me totally rethinking Daraku (my plan is so different now, you have no idea) which got me rethinking all my villains. (Not Trogdor as much, because he's pretty straightforward, but I've thought a bit more about the angle of his story.) Sauron and Sila are driving me crazy at the moment.
And all this coincides with a lot of other rethinks. There's going to be an interesting segment after Storyline 6. Storyline 7 is going to change more than I thought it would. It'll definitely be for the better, but I haven't figured out all the details. Again, Sauron and Sila are driving me crazy. There'll finally be a break to focus on character after Storyline 7, and Storyline 8 will bring us to some old friends and new friends, without the hackneyed elements that were dragging it down before.
