Haha, look at me, starting the first local role-play. Nyah nyah. Anyway, let's get on with it: Into the Ashes Rated PG for definite violence, possible language and alcohol/tobacco use. Rating may change at a later date.In a distant future where Daraku has taken blah blah blah... Listen, I'm not going to bore you guys with a long description. I'm going to make a deep assumption that you guys can all have the sense to take a bit of time out of your lives and read Mastercougar's "Out of the Ashes" sidestory if you haven't already. This Role Play will operate under the assumption that you have. Long story short, you're either part of the forces gathered under Daraku or one of the rebels fighting against him, taking place around the time of the "main comic." You may choose to take the role of a Reploid (robot), human, Demon or some hybrid thereof, though I would highly recommend against the inevitable human-Demon hybrids that I'm sure will come pouring through the windows. While I'm at it, allow me to make myself clear here: YOU MAY ONLY HAVE ONE CHARACTER AT A TIME. I'm aware that some love to make fan-characters as much as possible, but you must choose to develop and use only one. If you wish to use a different one, your current character must leave the Role Play via either death or a severe crippling that will hinder them from taking any further action. Due to the large scale that is a war, this may happen very often. This means that characters can and will die in battle, and trying to storm an established outpost/base with a team of five characters will result in certain death unless it is planned as thoroughly as an escape from Alcatraz. Again, I repeat, characters will frequently die and need replacing by new sign-ups.Further rules: 1) Any posts made within the RP must be at least 200 words (about twelve sentences). This should be manageable. 2) No bunnying (controlling other player characters), unless it is minor, and by doing so you agree to change anything that the character's player deems to be "out of character". 3) As mentioned above, power-playing will result in character death. 4) Similarly, stick to your character. If you write him/her down as a pacifist, they will not take part in direct fighting unless a major event changes their outlook (unlikely). 5) I know what I put for the rating, but please try and keep things clean. 6) I reserve all the rights and duties of a GM (Game Master), including but not limited to denying sign-ups, enforcing bounds on character action, requiring necessary changes to posts/sign-ups and kicking rule-breakers from the RP. Feel free to PM me when in question about anything regarding this Role Play. 7) In all reality, though, just respect each other and have fun, and we should all be able to get along. Sign-up FormName: Obvious. just keep it reasonable. Gender: For robots, state if their personality programming is masculine or feminine. Age: For robots, include acutal and "mental" ages. Demons' age will be warped a bit (see MC's Demon explanation here) Race: Note here whether your character is human, robot, Demon or some hybrid thereof. Other categories must be approved by me. Note that robots are very expendable and thus will be killed often. Alliance: Do you fight for Daraku, or for the pockets or resistance against his government? Your options are 'Daraku" or "Rebel," though Neutrality is possible if you give me a compelling reason for it. Remember, though, that we can't all be rebels. Description: Describe your character appropriately here. If necessary, include both "casual" and "mission" outfits and "demon" forms. Must be at least five rational sentences, preferably more when including multiple "forms". A picture may accompany, but the same physical description will be required. Personality: You should all know what this means. How does your character act? How do they deal with people? How do they feel about the 'war'? Again, five coherent sentences are required. History: What was your life like before becoming involved in the war? How did you get involved? Why do you fight for the side that you do? Basically, describe your character's life up to the point of the Role Play. Length may vary by your age, but a twenty-year-old human, for example, would need at least seven coherent sentences. Weapons/Abilities: How does your character fight? Describe their weapons and armor here. Please don't just list things like "blaster," but rather describe the blaster's design, features, etc. If armor is described above, make a note as such. Also describe any "powers" including Demon ability, special training, or robotic functions that give you an advantage. Also describe any vehicles frequently used by your character. Other: Anything not noted above that you believe deserves mention, such as left-handedness or having a pet robotic ferret. Remember, a big point here is creativity. My sign-up will come soon as an example. The Role Play will begin when we have at least 3-4 characters. ACCEPTED (2 total)Cid (Daraku, Blivsey) Daniel Park (Rebel, Flaming Phoenix) Side-note: MC, if this takes off, might you consider it semi-canon? *hopeful Bambi-eyes*

Name: Cid (Pilot Model 983-B, codename "White Hawk") Gender: Masculine Age: 3 (Mental Age: 25) Race: Robot Alliance: Daraku Description: Cid is roughly 6 feet tall with semi-tanned skin and built to look like a normal, if scruffy-looking, human man. He has shaggy black hair held back by a brown leather headband, with pilot's goggles over the headband. He also has what resembles a five o'clock shadow over the bottom half of his angular face that never grows any further, which Cid does not shave because he likes the way it looks on him. His eyes appear red and, upon close examination, have red images flashing across them, which work to him as a sort of "HUD". Usually his face is has some smudge or another from working with the mechanics of his fighter jet, Firefly. His clothing consists of a worn and smudged black shirt and dark green cargo pants made of a tough denim. Usually many of these pockets contain various tools, such as his right thigh pocket, which has a hole in the bottom that fits the shaft of his hammer perfectly. His pants are held with a black belt, on which are a pair of holsters for his energy pistols, one on each hip. Over this base wear, he usually is seen with a brown "bomber" jacket worn loosely and unbuttoned, as well as black leather gloves when working with Firefly. When the jacket sleeve is pulled back, though, it can be seen that Cid has a screen built into his right forearm that displays information such as his body's health status, the surrounding temperature, access to an encyclopedia-like database and any incoming messages from the command center. His right ear also has a noticeable device in it resembling a black hearing aid, which is used as a radio connection to air control, his commanding officer and the rest of his crew when necessary. Personality: Cid is known among Daraku's pilot ranks for a dry, sarcastic wit and high amount of cockiness. He enjoys freely boasting about his achievements and telling stories of missions that he claims to have played the major hand in, though firsthand witnesses to his tales hold that he tends to exaggerate details. He's always quick with a crack at any schmuck that he can get a joke in at, and is more than willing to envoke a gun duel or bar fight when he sees it "necessary". Of course, this usually occurs before anyone else thinks a fight is necessary, but Cid would rather shoot first. You know, as opposed to shooting second. Several holes in old black shirts and scars from repairs to his chassis will attest to this. Cid is a regular player of card games and a small gambler, though he admittedly has little to gamble on. He is a bit of a drinker, though he seems not to get drunk, and has a habit of smoking, oddly enough for a robot. Despite his swagger, Cid has a softer side, always taking to newer robots as a sort of big brother figure and being very protective of Firefly, to the point where he once nearly disassembled a droid himself for switching out the older, more familiar targeting systems it used for a newer but stiffer system. He has an extreme distaste for cold weather and refuses to eat fruit. History: Cid, codename White Hawk, was manufactured three years ago as part of a line of pilots that manufactured for use in Daraku's army. After being assigned to a squadron of fighters, Cid served as part of the fighter wing for the last two years, completing many missions successfully, most as part of the squadron but some as solo missions, as well. Mainly just rolling with the missions that were given his way in exchange for food, lodging, the repair of his ship and the assurance that he was mainly being sent on bombing raids against terrorists, Cid has stuck to his job and attained respectable rank in Daraku's airborne forces. Weapons: Though most of his fighting is done in Firefly, Cid carries with him two green-and-black energy pistols resembling the 'semi-classic' Walther P99, a fairly standard, old human-model pistol, though the parts have been gutted and replaced with standard internal energy weapon workings. He carries with him two energy magazines for each: One carrying stunning rounds and another with lethal energy bolts. Both of these are equipped with internal silencers and are regularly adjusted and cleaned. He is rather adept at fighting with them, but would be likely to lose in a gunfight against a significantly-trained gunman. The goggles worn over his head provide eye protection when necessary, and his eyes allow a full heads-up display of the surrounding area, though a previous incident has disabled the sensors allowing for heat- and night-vision. Being a robot, his body is naturally more resilient, though less flexible and agile than that of Demons or humans. His highly-advanced brain is also capable of superhuman calculation, making him a superb tactician and giving him an aerial advantage, though there is a level of complex human thought that he cannot reach. Cid is naturally ambidextrous, giving him an advantage in comat of more efficient piloting and gunfighting. Firefly is Cid's slightly modified personal attack fighter jet and his main mode of both transport and combat, named for the fact that its engines light up brightly in back when in use. He has considered having this changed for the purposes of stealth, but refrains from doing so out of sentimentality. The firefly's wings angle downwards, angling down where the engine is connected under each one and tipped with a laser cannon. These are mainly used for directional steering, as the main engine is contained in the main body, just behind the cockpit. There is seating room for the pilot and a passenger behind him, though all the controls are contained in the pilot's seat. A more powerful laser cannon is mounted above the cockpit, and a small stash of homing torpedoes is contained on the craft's underside. Firefly is made of a very durable metal alloy, making it very difficult to damage by anything less than heavy artillery or another aircraft. Ooh, and it has a spiffy tan paint job with red detailing! Other: As mentioned above, Cid is ambidextrous. Just getting the traditional pilot named 'Cid' out of the way here and now. Kinda gave him a lot of Han Solo, too, but it works.

Are guests allowed to play? If so, I'm in!
I suppose that I should tell a little about my character first, eh?
All right. Um... (in first person)
Hello, all. My name is Jack Nisuni. I was hired to help detect spies of Daraku's that have been getting into the resistance groups as of late. Truly, Daraku's government needs to be overthrown asap. Nobody likes it apart from the man himself. I do not understand why this war has been prolonged for so long.
I am fairly good at my job. I just ask questions about the past of these "spies" and interpret their answers. A while back, however, I retired. The chances of being assassinated by one of Daraku's spies were way too close one time, and well, I kinda don't want to go into detail there.
My parents are both soldiers, and I have not heard from either of them ever since this damned war began. I decided to leave the safety of my resistance camp, and go out into the battlefield to fight Daraku directly, as well as hopefully find my lost parents. My father left me a bulletproof shield and some armor, for defensive purposes. I know I need a blaster if I want to go out offensive, but you need not worry. My uncle makes those things for a living and he's not too far from where I am now.
I just hope that none of Daraku's troops are between me and he.
I am just about ready to go out to fight right now. Wish me luck.
Name: Jack Nisuni Gender: Male Age: 23 Race: Pure Human Alliance: Rebel Description: I am about 5'3". I am blood type O+. I was born on April 22. I have brown hair, usually worn messy. My hair is so curly that I just let it do what it wants. I have a really cool goatee as well. My eyes are sea blue. I have white skin, with a touch of Hispanic in there. I am 1/8 hispanic after all. In my casual clothing, I do not like to wear clothes that match. Yeah. That's weird, but I kinda don't want to go through all of my clothes just to find a nice match. I just grab the first thing I see (although, it's usually black, so it matches nonetheless). I also have a bracelet that has a picture of each of my parents on it: my last memory of them. In battle, I also wear my armor (see the weapon section). Personality: I am a lot nicer than I look. Most people see that I'm wearing black: a dark color. They then conclude that I am a creature of darkness and avoid me, but when they try to get to know me, they generally aren't disappointed. I'm a nice guy. That's all there is to me. It takes a lot to make me mad, but if you somehow manage to reach that level, watch out. I can be very violent if I wish. I remember this one time when my girlfriend broke up with me and she was hospitalized. Hey! Wait a minute. Why are you making me say this sort of stuff? In any case, Daraku has already crossed that line, twice. So, I will try to take him down. I even try to curse using Daraku's name, because it's funny. History: My parents were really the two most important people in my life. I was an only child, and I never left my house very often. I was homeschooled, you see, and my family wasn't religious, so I didn't go to a church often either. Until I was 16, and I got a car, did I realize that other people my age were fun to be around. I made a few friends, which was difficult at first. I have very high expectations for a friend. For a teenager, I was reasonably innocent. I never got into drugs, alcohol, etc. and to be honest, I never really found "sexy" girls attractive. Well, okay. You know I had one girlfriend already. She didn't really dress like other girls. Y'know, with all of that junk showing. She was really, as her friends said, "schoolgirl cute." She was a really nice person. I miss her. I regret the day that I put her in the hospital when she broke up with me. I imagine she misses me too. She only left me because she saw another guy, who was at least 1000 times richer than I could ever hope to be. Of course, all that was before the rise of Daraku. Once Daraku took power, my parents took me and ran to a resistance camp. It's a different one than CLOVIS, which I heard that you guys read about. I never saw my friends again. With no weaponry, I couldn't fight Daraku, as much as I wanted to. The resistance camp I was in had only 12 members, with a 13th one on the way. Unlucky 13. It turned out to be a spy, which I caught. The elder members of our camp were impressed, and asked me to interview all new applicants. I have since quit that job. Our camp has 29 members now. 2 are missing. My parents. They had left to go into battle. My father asked me to defend our camp if necessary, and gave me armor and a bulletproof shield. Now, I shall follow in his footsteps. I plan to stop at Uncle Rick's house to pick up a blaster I can use. It's about a 4-hour walk from here, with only a small river in the way. It's not too dangerous, so I should be able to swim across, unless Daraku's guards are in my way. Weapons: The armor that I have from my father is not unlike that of a Camelot knight, as far as the chest goes. The head is a golden helmet that fits around my head fine, but offers no frontal protection. That's good for me though, because it is easy to see out of. I can always use my shield if I need to. Before I talk about the shield though, I should finish the armor. The legs are very uncomfortable. I kinda wish that I could cut them off, but I lack the tools to do so. The arms are nonexistant actually. My father worked as an armor designer and told me that if my armor had arms, it would severely cripple my arms' manuverability. My shield, as well as any other weapons I may obtain would become practically useless. My father had tested my strength a while back, and noted the best features on armor for my fighting style, so I don't doubt him. And now for my shield. It's a lot like Proto Man's, in terms of shape. It is designed differently though. For starters, it is black, so it can hide in the dark easily. And for another, it's got a piece of bulletproof glass in the middle of it. As long as it is in front of me, I cannot be shot at by enemies. Unfortunately, the reverse is also true. I cannot shoot if my shield is in front of me. I also am going to try to obtain a blaster from my Uncle Rick. I would really probably just get a cheap model. I don't need anything fancy. Other: I think I probably already covered everything already.
So, am I in or out?

Hmm... the whole "dead parents" angle is a bit trite, though it really does fit (Daraku probably created a lot of situations like this). I would prefer that sign-ups be done from a third-person perspective, but that's a fairly minor complaint.
If I start picking over details like that, though, I'll end up accepting no one, as our userbase is small enough to begin with. Good sign-up, you're in.
On a side note, pirate, might I recommend that you get an account here? You certainly post enough to justify it.

Alright, I'm pumped! So I suppose my character shall sign up. *Enter character's dialog* Hi there. I'm Daniel Park (don't worry; this isn't my author's name, don't fret), and I'm human. I'm currently age 23. Oh, yeah. I hope you can guess I'm male. I've wanted to become a doctor my whole life. Unfortunately, I didn't have time to finish Medical School before the war began. However, I absorbed some of the knowledge and can do basic medical procedures. But as a hobby, I am a computer expert. I'm an experienced hacker. I can build and repair robots. I have made computers. In fact, I'm one of the Rebels' "mysterious" suppliers. There's nothing I hate more than battles. The blood, knifes, guns, what's the point? As such I try every day to make the world a better place. I refuse to fight in this war. It is futile. I would rather be killed refusing than killed off of gunfire. I'm a peace-lover, myself, and I work behind-the-scenes. I currently am working for the Rebels, but they've asked me to spy on Daraku. I, hating battle, refused. But I don't know how long it'll be before the Rebels threaten me. They know perfectly well I won't put up a fight and they can easily detain me. I suppose I should give you a scope of how I look, eh? Well, I always wear my white medical coat. I have a slightly long, skinny face, and I have the slightest hint of a goatee. My black hair is short, but long enough that it needs to be combed in the morning, if that makes sense. Before this horrifying war began, I was in school, studying daily, working on computers by night. I've always been a bookworm since Elementary School, so I don't really have much of a history. Sorry. You ask for weapons and abilities, huh? Well, I don't have weapons, but I do have plenty of specially-trained birds, like carrier pigeons, who supply the Rebels with letters and materials. I'm also working on another project, but I've been sworn to secrecy, you hear? HOW DID YOU KNOW??? I do have a pet robotic ferret. Hmph. Stupid psychics. *End character's dialog* Oh. Oops. I didn't read the third-person thing until it was too late. Sorry. Also, I'm in the same situation as maskedpirate. So no account for me... So, what do you think? If I need to add something, just say the word.

Dude, you didn't even pay attention to the first post. You're supposed to fill out the information in the form. Look at what maskedpirate and I did. You need to do the same thing, but fill in the information appropriately for your character.
I like the stylistic attempt, but I need the straight-up version here. DENIED.

Oh. I'm sooo sorry. I read the thread either really late last night or really early this morning (like 2am), and tried to reply off of memory. My greatest apologies. If I reformat it, I can still enter, right? Or am I denied for life?

Name: Daniel Park Gender: Male (hopefully you can guess that by the name...) Age: 23 Race: Human Alliance: Rebels Description: Daniel is 5'6". Daniel is constantly wearing his medical jacket, which is slightly big on him. But he doesn't care - the nurses at Medical School told him he'd "grow into it", despite the fact that he was done growing years ago (since that school is so competetive, people try to pull stuff like that on others all the time. Also since it's so competetive, students are up all night studying, and they end up sleep-deprived and won't realize it's a joke for a long time.) He has somewhat of a long face, with a hint of a goatee. He has black hair, which is short, but still long enough so it must be combed daily (if that makes any sense...). He has always been fascinated by computers, robotics, and, most of all, hacking. Despite this, he has always wanted to become a doctor. He has managed to finish a few years of Medical School, so he knows basic medical procedures, but nothing extensive. Personality: He smiles a lot, but not out of happiness. It's actually kinda strange. Everyone thinks he's trying to hide something with that smile. (If this doesn't make sense, think of Mr. Hanekoma from TWEWY.) He is a peace-lover and will not fight. Ever. He sees war as "a simple method of causing blood, knifes, and guns to all combine into one. It's just a faster way of guillotining. What's the point?". He tries his hardest to invent things that help make the world a better place. History: Daniel doesn't really have much history. Computers and Medicine are both extremely intensive studies, so he spent a lot of his childhood reading and learning. In fact, he rarely leaves his lab. If he needs a book, he sends a parrot (see "Weapons/Abilities"). Weapons/Abilities: As stated earlier, Daniel will not fight. So he has no weapons that he can use. However, he has made a few for others. But they are still in production, and highly secretive. I can't be spoiling everything, can I? He also has managed to gather a crew of parrots, like carrier pigeons, that send messages and supplies for the war. As stated above, he hardly ever leaves his lab, so he sends these instead. Other: The Rebels have asked him to spy on Daraku. He has refused, thinking that Daraku would put him into battle. However, if the Rebels threaten him, he will not fight back, so they can detain him. Also, he does have a pet robot ferret. It was one of his first inventions. As mentioned earlier, people are somewhat apprehensive about him. They think he holds a secret. All I can say at this point is that he does. Unfortunately, I'm not willing to spoil it... yet. As the role-play progresses, it'll come out; I promise. Also, sorry about the previous post. If there's anything I forgot in this one that is in the other one, it's still true. If you have any questions about Daniel (I'm guessing the description is the most confusing), just ask.

Heh... the secret will come out if he doesn't die first... Nah, your character is a non-action guy, so unless it's in a raid, he won't see combat and thus probably won't be dying.
Anyway, I'd like the history to be a little more thorough. Where did he come from? What got him involved in the war? It might help to move the first two sentences under "Other" to "History," since they fit there.
Also, whatever weapons you have in development or secrets you intend on revealing about your character, you need to elaborate upon them in a private message to me. As I need to act as Game Master here, I need to know what's going down with all of the characters, though I promise to keep it secretive outside of my GM duties.
So, technically PENDING until you expand the history, but you're pretty much accepted.
I'd like one more person to get involved on the side of Daraku's army to even out the sides, then we can start. I've also added a note that robotic characters are rather expendable and players controlling them will probably be re-rolling new characters in short order.

"It might help to move the first two sentences under 'Other' to 'History,' since they fit there."I would do that, but... "History: What was your life like before becoming involved in the war?"So I didn't include it. Also, since I'm a guest, how do I PM you? Okay, so... Re-done History: The reason he hates war dates back to when he was a child, 13 years of age. See, in their world, instead of having Science Fairs and the like, they have robotics competitions of various assortments. The most prestigious competition was a fighting competition with very few rules. All you need to do is build a robot. They fight in a ring. The first to go outside the ring loses, whether they are pushed off, shot at, or stabbed. (Think: Custom Robo Arena) Being excellent at robotics, Daniel entered and made it all the way to the finals. At the finals, a woman named Liva Starrz was set to battle against him. She had programmed her robot with swivel guns with real bullets. It was set off to go on a killing rampage, and it did. However, Daniel was cautious. He had installed bullet-proof glass where his robot's eyes were supposed to be. Since he was inside controlling the bot, he was safe. Unfortunately for the spectators, they weren't. Three of Daniel's friends were shot that day. Two survived. His idol - his teacher - had also been killed, among tons of spectators. He sent his robot to kick the controls out of Liva's hands. He missed, and instead kicked her neck, breaking it. But that was enough. Her robot stopped, and Daniel was known as a hero to those who survived, but a murderer to himself. Dozens of people died that day, one because of Daniel. This has scarred him intensely, and he never actively wants to participate in violence again. So is that extensive enough?
