Post by Comic 221 got me thinking on Aug 11, 2009 1:51:39 GMT -5
So, a couple of interesting points arose from my reading of comic 221. One is just interesting, the other is truely philosophical. Interesting first:
First, so, the whole comic is a creation of Will's. AKA, Mastercougar. So, if Will = Mastercougar, does that mean that he is both writing the fact that Trogdor escaped into Earth and partaking in that, while writing about his partaking in it. So, that means, he is authoring his author. Which then means that the realm Trogdor is in is not actually ours, but Mastercougar's authored relm of earth. Which then means that the core he is after is not in one of the upper realms, but a representation of it. This is proved by the lack of actual Trogdor on Earth. So, then, does the fictitious representation of an Upper Relm lead to the core leading to a fictitious representation of God's relm? So, it's a story within a story within a story. Too cool!
Anyways, that ended up being more philosophical then I though it would be. Onto the second point, which Will, will (he he xD) remind you of a certain trip to a certain water park.
So, seeing how Master cougar aids neither side, but in the end wants the good guys to win (seeing as he defines the good guys as those he created to be in his vision of right) does that mean he created them to in the end win; after a great challange. So, in the end, it's only from their localized perspective that MC is neutral (the authored author, not the Author). In the end, MC is simply giving them challanges that he knows they will overcome, because he wrote them to be victorious in the end. Will, if you do not see where this is going, I'm going to hurt you tomorrow Dx. (I really just plain enjoy refering to MC in a personal sense, seeing as I have the right to do so ;D)
So, now for the philosophical kicker! Thinking of MC as a metaphor of God, and Gabby and Ty and Co. as humans (or life, if you believe in more than one intelligent species, as I think is likely) we can see a relationship. Think similar triangles. Anyways, we can see where MC is going. We know he isn't neutral in the end, but Gabby did think he was until comic 221. Gabby thought of him, to an extent, as slightly cruel for putting her through challanges. (I'm specificly focusing on Gabby because she brought up the point). From her perspective, MC seemed unsympathetic to a degree. Now, many humans think of God as unsympathetic. How could he create sorrow? And this is an answer. It is for the same reason as MC appears neutral! For the fact that he created us to experience existance, as MC created (and is fond of, I'm sure) Gabby, Ty, and Co. to experience philosophical points. It's the answer to life! Not really, but still interesting.
And if you're atheistic, perhaps this answers some of your doubts about God. But it's really not meant to be a "evangelical message". I just found it interesting, and seeing as I believe in God, and that this point was induced by that belief, I thought I'd share.
Fun fun stuff. MC, and others, I look forward to responses.
Wow. That was 3,000 characters... LOL. I told you it couldn't be a good thing. Hopefully, I avioded the wall of text effect with paragraph breaks.

And now: I need to
