All right, we seriously need a thread for this.
Who's excited for the fifth generation?!?
Personally, out of everything, the thing I'm most pumped about might just be the fact that there appears to be a Luvdisc evolution. Dang!
More thoughts later, when I've time to compose them.

Woo! Some of the new Pokémon look intriguing (Chillarmy, "Gear" and the mole come to mind), the High Link looks cool, I'm intrigued by the dream smoke, both of the rivals look to be great characters from what I've read, we get nice seasonal changes, Huin City and the other environments look awesome, both of the box-cover Legendaries are awesome, we get dynamic battle graphics, the game will finally quit reminding me that it's raining every turn, I love the ying-yang theme, the general style of the game is already rubbing off on me and the resident criminals are the KNIGHTS TEMPLAR.
*breathes*
Anyway, these games look quite swell at this point, and I'm really looking forward to it. Friend o' mine is getting White and I'm getting Black (the version mascot and environments are awesome), and I won't even have to spring for a new console. Awesome sauce.
Oh, and I always forgot about Luvdisc to be honest, but to each his own.

It's mostly that the fact that Game Freak actually cares about the poor love-fish, traditionally the bottom of the bottom, that gets me. It blows my mind. If it's actually good, wouldn't that be something? Victory for the Power of Love! I might even use it for the awesome factor.
But on other subjects:
Love both legendaries. I originally liked Raishram better, but Zekrom has grown on me a lot. I love the fact that their typings are unusual, though I hope we see some unusual typings for non-legendaries as well. Same with Victini.
I like the starters well enough, but it's the evolutions that make or break it for me. Poor Mijumaru gets no love. It's probably the ambivalent expression on its face, it looks like it's got a case of existential angst. I'm hoping its evolution doesn't disappoint. Betting it's Water-Ice.
Among my favorites: Cell Blob, Sarcophagus, Mantis Dragon, Rock Monster, Sand Crocodile. I'll bet right now that tusky dragon Kibago will be the Pseudo-Legenday for this generation.
Oh, and dark-skinned characters? As main characters, even? Finally! There had to be more people of other ethnicities than just Brock (debatably) and that one Battle Revolution lady (in the US). Took 'em long enough, I say.
But I digress. Hurrah for the 5th generation!
P.S. White for me! I get White Forest!
